WALKING SAFARI IN THE WILDERNESS AND MOUNTAINS OF CORBETT

Day 1: Drive from Delhi. Arrive at The Corbett Hideaway by Lunch. A Guided Nature walk in the Sal forest leading onto a track along the Kosi river and culminating at The famous Garjia Devi temple and back to the Lodge. The distance covered would be 08 kms appx. and the terrain easy. Later on in the evening enjoy a slide show on the flora & fauna of Corbett National Park. Overnight stay at The Corbett Hideaway..

Day 2 : Early morning depart for Durga Devi gate by Jeep. Commence a 12 km walk in the forest of Corbett Tiger Reserve accompanied by a nature guide arriving for Lunch at The Hideaway River Lodge, situated on the banks of the Ramganga river. The opportunity and chances to see wildlife including the cat family at close quarters while walking is immense. After lunch you have the option of going for an Elephant ride or a Jeep safari. Overnight stay in a Luxury Swiss Tent with attached toilet & bathroom with flowing hot & cold water.

Day 3 : After early breakfast commence a Nature trek to a village called Shankarpur - this a undulating trek - crisscrossing the hill ranges of Kumaon - gradually ascending to a height of 3500 ft. above sea level- the total distance covered is 08 kms appx. Enjoy a packed Lunch en route. A jeep will pick you up and drive you back to The Corbett Hideaway for overnight stay via Marchula.

OPTIONAL EXTENSION:

Day 4: Drive to Nainital and start the extension tour itinerary .
After breakfast we depart from The Corbett Hideaway and drive to Nainital, the queen of hill stations- the beauty enhanced by the large kidney shaped lake. Day free for boating, horse ride to Lands end, visit the Governors residence built like the Buckingham Palace or just walking along the Mall road and visiting the Tibetean Bazzar. Depart Nainital around dusk to continue drive to Pangot - this drive gives us the opprtunity to look for the lonesome Leopard. Overnight in a quiet & warm Himalayan cottage at Jungle Lore Birding Lodge.

Day 5: After breakfast we commence a morning Trek to Cheena peak 7300 feet via Kilbury, a nature guide accompanies you - the bird life in this area is abundant with many rare species and one also has the opportunity of seeing Muntjac & Sambar deer etc. This trek is steep and should take appx 04 hours. Enjoy a packed lunch in the calm and serene environment. The view of the Himalayas from Cheena peak is beyond compare. There is an option of walking back the same way to the lodge or walk down to Tanky and drive back to the lodge. Basically it all depends on the trekkers' ability and choice. The night sky is wonderful for star gazing with the warmth of the campfires. Overnight at Jungle Lore Birding Lodge.

Day 6: Arise early and drive 05 kms from the Lodge to see the sunrise on the Himalayas - From the first ray of the rising sun to evening's deepest glow, the landscape unravels the untaught harmony of the primitive wild. The springtide blossoms, the whistling airborne species, the mysterious wild and the picturesque valleys come together to offer a romance hitherto unseen, unheard or untold. Enjoy a hearty breakfast and rest in the mid morning sun.
After lunch we drive to Binayak to enjoy the forested areas, the breath taking scenery and the wildlife that appears along. Overnight at Jungle Lore Birding Lodge.

Day 7: After breakfast drive to onward destination visiting the Sattal and Bhimtal lakes enroute. Later transfer to Kathgodam Railway Station to connect Ranikhet Express at 2040 Hrs for Delhi railway station.
